Project Description:
Designing a space for students with ASD through ages 2-22 years old. The main three goals for this project are flexibility in built form and furniture, simple navigation, and smooth transition points.
-
Concept:
The intent of this design is to provide a space that adapts to the students sensory needs. This design offers pliability. Pliability is the state of being easily bent or flexible. the spatial proximities and transition points are deliberately situated to make navigation easier for them. this is not intended to be like the other buildings these students enter. This is meant to be a space that accommodates to their needs, rather than forcing the students to have to accommodate to the building’s needs. The students will have agency in deciding how much stimuli they will be interacting with.
